Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky announced during the company’s first quarter 2019 earnings call that it’s working to provide free one-day shipping for Amazon Prime customers instead of the free two-day Prime shipping currently offered under the program. “We’re currently working on evolving Prime two-day to Prime one-day,” said Olsavsky.
It’s going to take some time to roll out this perk to all customers. “We’re already starting down this path,” claims Olsavsky. “We’ve expanded the number of zip codes eligible for one-day shipping.” I live near a warehouse and have already noticed one day shipping as an option on some items. There isn’t a set timeline announced but I would imagine people closer to shipping hubs will receive it first with more rural customers having a longer wait.
What do you think about the announcement? Are you excited or ambivalent? Let me know in the comments.
