Last week social media was buzzing about the fact that Gen Z had declared skinny jeans out of style on TikTok. While I’m not one to let Generation Tide Pods dictate my wardrobe, I will admit that I like options and am happy to see wide leg and boyfriend styles making comebacks.
The thing about wearing wide leg jeans is that it can be a fine line between looking edgy-chic verses looking like you should be wearing a flannel in your best friend’s garage listening to Nirvana. If you want to dip your toes into the trend here are four ways to wear wide leg jeans- no flannels required. Links to each piece are under the last photo for each outfit.
The Jeans
For this post I styled a pair of Daily Ritual cropped wide leg jeans from Amazon. I’m 5’4” so they are a little longer on me. I tried a TON of wide leg jeans and this is my favorite pair that I’ve found. They are super comfortable and the cut is flattering. They run a bit big so if you are between sizes I would size down.
UPDATE: the Daily Ritual Pair sold out but I really like this pair of Levi’s Signature wide leg jeans. They fit TTS for me.
Outfit 1:
With a Half Tucked Tunic and Espadrilles
The first look is a bit of a dressy update on wide leg jeans. By pairing them with a tunic and espadrilles I elevated them so you could wear them out on a date night or to dinner. I added my Bauble Bar Kew Collar statement necklace to further dress the look up. I think this is a nice look for Spring. You could always swap the necklace out for a pendant to make it a little less glam for daytime.

Outfit 2:
With a Men’s White Oxford Shirt and Loafers
For this one I raided my husband’s closet. I think a men’s button down adds a bit of the unexpected for a look that’s chic but effortless at the same time. You can always use a women’s shirt but you’ll lose a bit of the edge. I kept the accessories simple to further the androgynous style of the outfit.

Outfit 3:
With an Oversized Off the Shoulder Sweater
For this outfit I broke one of my own style rules. I normally say if you go for volume on the top you should keep things streamlined on the bottom. But there’s something about a half tucked sweater with the wide leg jeans that really feels down to earth. I think an off the shoulder look adds a bit of femininity and keeps it interesting.

Outfit 4:
With a Long Cardigan and Statement Sneakers
There’s nothing that says comfy to me like a cardigan and I’m loving it with these jeans. Add a pair of statement sneakers and you are ready to take on the world (or at least your errands list)! My Social Threads Vegan Messenger Bag has been my go-to bag lately and was a must for this on-the-go outfit.

All of them are really cute! My favorite is number 2. Love the classic look of a white Oxford.
