It feels completely unreal that I’m writing this post already! Does anyone else feel like this year is flying by? But here we are; it’s almost the end of August which means all the new toys for the holiday season will start being released. Predicting what toys will be hot for the holidays is far from an exact science and often I feel a lot like professor Trelawny in Harry Potter with my guesses. But, last year’s postWAS pretty spot on. Knowing what’s predicted to be popular is, in my opinion, incredibly valuable information if you want to avoid the craziness that often hits in November. I don’t recommend anyone rush out and buy everything on the list but if there’s something you KNOW your kid can’t live without it would behoove you to grab it early before the insanity ensues.
Normally I’m further ahead on my Christmas shopping than I am now. We just had a round of birthdays and we feel overrun with toys right now so it’s hard to justify grabbing things when I don’t feel like they NEED anything. They also are at ages where interests are fleeting so I’m not sure what will be THE toy this year where as last year at this time my oldest had already settled on Nerf Laser Shooters. If I’m completely honest it’s driving me a little batty because I like to be prepared. So… do as I say and not as I do and be prepared early.
Baby Shark x Fingerlings
If you were in my Daily Deal Detectives group 2 years ago you will remember the craziness of Fingerling stockings. I feel like I spent endless hours randomly checking product pages hoping to catch them for my readers and the endless refreshing of pages still haunts me. All of the other Baby Shark crossover toys have been pretty popular and I suspect this one will follow suit.

Nerf x Fortnite
I feel like with Nerf and Fortnite you just can’t go wrong. I still can’t say I really “get” the whole Fortnite craze but I know it’s a thing and Nerf is perennially popular so it seems like a match made in boy heaven.

Blume Dolls
These are a recent release and have already made quite the splash. Since they are already available I’m not sure if they will be hard to find but I do think they will be highly requested. The basic gist is you water the little pot and the doll “blooms” through the top. It’s cute enough but the blooming feature is over pretty quickly. There are 22 different ones available right now so it seems like another blind bag type toy where you could end up purchasing several.

Treasure X Aliens
This is a slime toy. From what I can tell the slime craze has calmed down a bit but they seem like they could ride on the coattails and be a surprise hit.

Hatchimals How to Save Your Dragon Toothless
I swear it’s going to be a 2017 reboot year lol. Hatchimals were another one I spent a ridiculous amount of time stalking for readers. Unlike the earlier counterparts, however, I feel like this is worth the hype. Even though the “hatching” is a one trick pony, Toothless is totally adorable and this may be my favorite HTSYD crossover to date.

FurReal Mighty Roar Simba
The FurReal tiger was hit so it seems like a Simba lion is a no-brainer. He seems cute enough, though I’m not sure if you need both if you already have the tiger.

The LOL Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper
Preorders were bananas for the LOL Surprise 2-in-1 Glamper. From what I’ve seen so far this will be HOT. Like all LOL Surprise the price point gives me sticker shock but that didn’t seem to have slowed down preorders. Maybe it’s a girl mom thing?

Power Wheels Toy Story 4 Jeep Wrangle
I feel like it wouldn’t be the holidays without some Power Wheels toy being popular. With the new Toy Story movie I think this will be on a lot of lists.

Paw Patrol Mighty Jet Command Center
This newest iteration of Paw Patrol is rumored to be super popular this year. It switches from deluxe jet into mobile command headquarters. I have NO idea what makes these pups mighty or different from the original but they seem popular with the toddler crowd.

Barbie Travel Dream Plane
The Dream House and camper were super popular the past few years so I expect this newest Barbie toy to also be a hot item. If it follows its predecessors don’t expect many discounts.

These have been a BIG hit in the group and have been topping the sales charts so I don’t know if their star will burn out by November or if these will still be hot. Right now they keep selling out so my money is on them being hot.

When I started working on this post in June I didn’t know what this thing was but now that I’ve seen a video it’s pretty hysterical. This thing sold out in no time the other day so I think this twerking llama is going to be a hot ticket item!

The JoJo Siwa Hairdorables Doll
Everything this girl touches seems to turn to gold. I have no idea who does her marketing but I seriously need to take lessons from them. JoJo bows are still all the rage here so I think this will be a winner.

Luvabella Newborns
Luvabella and Luvabeau were two other toys I spent an unreal amount of time checking for restocks. The new newborn version seems like it has the potential to be equally as popular. They come with a softer, more cuddly body and the same life-like movements and expressions that made the original so popular.

Scruff a Luv Family
I think this one is absolutely darling and reminds me of the Magic Nursery Baby toys I was obsessed with as a kid. The premise is the same as the original Scruff a luv but when you put that matted ball in the water it reveals a mom with babies. Surprises include whether you will have twins or triplets and the genders of the babies.
