Review: Blossom Parties Cloth Menstrual Pads

This review has been a work in progress for several months! I have found it to be one of the most interesting for me because I have been able to review different stages of Blossom Parties‘ redesign of their cloth menstrual pads. It has really helped me appreciate the effort and love that goes into the products.

Blossom Parties is an Etsy shop run by Katherine with a very unique focus. Their products are designed to give give teens and tweens a positive outlook on their period and to foster Eco-friendly habits. Their line includes cloth pads, cards, heating pads, wetbags and more! I love that Katherine’s vision is to celebrate and embrace this important milestone. Our society so often bemoans menstruation and our girls have enough pressure without another reason they are “supposed” to hate their bodies.

Although Blossom Parties’ Femeko pads are marketed towards teens, I found them equally effective for adults. The flannel is soft and they are very absorbent.

I reviewed both the colored and non-dyed Femko pads. The undyed pads were the redesigned pads with less stitching on the bottom and middle of the pad where protection is most needed. I found the redesign to be very effective and more absorbent.

Both dyed and non-dyed pads are made of cotton flannel, absorbent cotton, and PUL. They come in light, medium, and heavy absorbency.

The dyed pads have different patterns to denote absorbancy- the lightest is on the left and the heaviest is on the right:

The non-dyed pads use small stars to indicate absorbancy. 1 star is light, 2 means medium, and 3 means heavy:

I think whether you choose the dyed or non-dyed is a matter of personal preference. I love bright colors for pads but some people prefer to keep things as natural as possible. I did find the non-dyed just slightly more absorbent than the dyed but not enough to discourage anyone who loves colors. I love the shape and design of the pads and the only change I would make would be to make the heavy pads about 2 inches longer.

Katherine also included a corn heating pad for me to review which was a really nice surprise! I really liked the heating pad because I could put it in the microwave to warm it and then use it to help me fall asleep when I had cramps without worrying about wasting electricity all night. This made my husband happy since he worries about the electric heating pad being a fire hazard when I sleep with it. The flower pattern was also really pretty.

I would definitely recommend shopping at Blossom Parties! I love that the products are made in America and help support a work at home small business. Katherine is a joy to work with and I know you will not be disappointed.

Hey! I just found your blog via TopMommyBlogs and thought I'd stop by since we have similar themes to our blog! Love what you have here! I have thought a lot about greener "female" products and have considered the DivaCup. Have you tried that before?

πŸ™‚ I'd love if you checked out my blog! Thanks!
