I love Epsom salts. No, I REALLY love Epsom salts 🙂 I can get a large bag at CVS relatively cheap and it is so useful! It doesn’t have harsh chemicals and is seriously thrifty and frugal. What’s not to love?
My Seven Uses for Epsom Salts:
Soaking for Muscle Aches
When I have sore muscles nothing makes me feel better than soaking in a bath with Epsom salts. I dissolve 1-2 cups in a tub full of water and soak for as long as the water stays hot. You can also make a compress by soaking a washcloth or towel in the water.
I know this is sort of the same thing as soaking for muscles aches but I think it is worth mentioning. Even if you aren’t sore I find Epsom salt baths very relaxing and take them occasionally just to help me unwind.
I’ve never done this but my husband has. You dissovle 2-4 teaspoons in an 8 ounce glass of water and drink. It’s much more mild than Miralax or other medicines.
Cleaning/soaking wounds and piercings
Epsom salts help promote healing and prevent infection.
Epsom salts can be used to feed plants. Dissolve 2 tablespoons per gallon of water and use at least once a month. Tomatoes especially love this.
Soaking a splinter in Epsom salts helps to draw it out.
I mix equal parts shower gel and Epsom salts to make an exfoliating scrub. It leaves skin very smooth.
So, what do you uses Epsom salts for? Why do you love them?
