Tru Kids Brands™ (which are the new owners of the Toys R Us Brand) partnered with Target to provide their new online service.

Last year when Toys R Us closed it broke my heart. It felt like a piece of my childhood was lost forever. So I would be a big fat liar if I said I wasn’t excited that they are officially back online! AND it’s just in time for the holidays.

Tru Kids Brands™ (which are the new owners of the Toys R Us Brand) partnered with Target to provide their new online service. Per apress release, “ToysRUs.com relaunched today with videos and articles on the latest toy trends and brands. It has in-depth product reviews, hot toy lists to help shoppers pick out the perfect toys and gifts for kids of all ages. Ready to buy something? The site will automatically link you to the same product page on Target.comto make the purchase.”

I did some poking around on the new site and basically it funnels to Target with a “buy now at Target” button. You then complete your purchase at Target.comlike you normally would. There are also toy trend lists, printables, and DIY activity ideas.

“This fall, Toys“R”Us will open experiential retail stores in Houston, Texas, and Paramus, New Jersey—specially designed to help families make memories as they discover the hottest new toys in person.” If the item you want isn’t in stock associates will help your order it online from Target.

I have to be honest, I was hoping for a bit more on the online side but perhaps this will pave the way for more services and experiences in the future. I’m very interested in seeing what the response is to the new brick and mortar stores. What are your thoughts? Are you excited about the new TRU?
